Hey! This week was great. H-g- got married... I’ve never worked this hard in
my life but the pay off was worth it! The wedding was a little bumpy but it
happened. I don’t feel like complaining right now ha.
H-g-’s baptism fell cause he was drinking. But he’s now married so when he stops drinking he can
get baptized, and hopefully by then his family too!
The wedding turned out great. There was alot of people there and the food was good.
J-s-’s baptism fell because there was no water in the city so we couldn’t do
Baptism at the Lake

J-s-’s baptism fell on Saturday because then we had it on Sunday in the
morning at the lake, yessssss in the lake! The pictures are amazing!

And now I’m in Flores with Ch-v-z cause my comp
went to the cap to do something and wont be back till late tonight.
So yesterday and today I've been with Ch-v-z. He is super fun...  hahaha!
Well it was a good week even though H-g- was lame.
A few of the members helped us out a ton and we were very glad for that help (we normally don’t get haha). So the rest of today I’m just with Ch-v-z and we have to go pick up our comps tonight super

March 19, 2012

Ok first thing, I have been running around all week getting this wedding and baptism in order but it didn’t happen. So next week it will happen for sure. I’m so sick of getting this wedding going I don’t even feel like explaining why it didn’t happen.
Basssssically it didn’t happen because the guy who was marrying them had to go to the fair that’s going on, so next week it will all be good. I’m nottttt letting it fall again.
Other than that we also have J-s-’s baptism Saturday and he’s excited. So next Saturday will be a good and busy day.
Today we really didn’t do anything at all.  We all just hung out. Changes are coming up soon so who knows who is leaving and coming in the next few weeks.
Its really hot... I’m melting.
Um well all this week was all wedding stuff so I really don’t have much to say. ummmmmmmm this is probably the most boring email I’ve ever written and I seriously have nothing to say.
Things are going good with my comp we are almost half way done with the training program. We are working hard and having fun.
The other day there was a rodeo and let me tell you, a Guatemala rodeo is nuts!! hahahah One bull was squirting blood out its horn, like a stream of blood lolz. Who knows if that is normal.
Welllll I see that my letter is short but Elder H-pk-ns sitting next to me was just like screw it I have nothing to say so I’m not writing. So my letter is better than at least one person.
Letssss seee um the fair has good pizza. ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm did that make my letter longer...ok I give up I got notthinnnnnnng. Have a good week love you all!!!!!!!!

March 12, 2012

Wassssup wassssup. Well lets start of with how we actually did something for zone activity today!!! And guess what... the zone leaders had the district leaders vote on what we are doing and left it up to me to plan it, with the bus and everything...
The Castillo San Felipe de Lara
Well I got it all planned good and everything went great. We went to Rio Dulce, it was super cool it's in an area where the river leads into the ocean.  We went to a castle called Castillo San Felipe or something like that. It was nice seeing big ocean boats drive by haha. We all had fun.  The bus drive was super long but we made it and I know I had fun hehe.
Well the wedding didn’t happen this week but the wedding and baptism is going down this Saturday! yeee.
Also we have another fecha with this kid J-s-. He is super cool and his fecha is on dad's birthday and it also happens to be his birthday too! I thought it was really cool because we asked him to get baptized and to pick a date and he chose his birthday!
This week I got a really cool picture of me walking on water... I was being me and wanting to see more of the castle and everybody else was in the castle so I decided to take my shoes off and explore some more.  When I was walking back they took a picture of me walking on water. Sadly, you don’t get to see it until next week. It's super late and I need to get back to my area so I’m going to end this email but you guys basically got everything that is going on! Love you all and have a great week!!
El Castillo is located in a very picturesque setting at the narrowest point along the Rio Dulce.

Elder Asdel - San Jose, Peten
Well this week has been pretty good, another fast week. This week our main focus was H-g-. We now have a date for his wedding and baptism. We have been working our butts off getting this organized its nuts, but the good thing is its going to happen. H-g- is ready but his wife doesn’t want to yet. So the tenth of March is the wedding, and the 17th is the baptism for just H-g-.  Hopefully after that we can get the wife to feel ready/want to.  H-g- is super happy.
Lately it has been supppppppppper hot. But yesterday rained and it felt so good to just get soaked in the rain. We walk alot up and down hills under the sun and its getting old, but what ever, at least it has amazing views of the lake ha.
This Sunday we had a 14 year old J-s- at church and he could be a good possibility baptism.
Training is going pretty good I’m liking it alot. District Leader is kinda lame its just more things you have to do but I guess its cool cause I get to choose p-day and stuff like that.

Catching the tarantula
I got all my pictures copied over to some usbs that I will be sending home soon. Get ready for a load  of pictures haha.
Speaking of pictures, lets see what pictures I have for you guys this week. haha first I'll explain the tarantula and scorpion pictures. We decided to fight the 2 craziest things we could find that weren’t animals like snakes or something. So we just kept our eyes peeled looking for things to fight as we walked. Well within two nights we had a tarantula and a scorpion. As you can see in one of the pictures I used a cardboard box and a cup to catch the tarantula and my comp used pliers to catch the scorpion hehehe. Well we fought them and it was crazyyyyyyyyyyyyyy it was like a flying ball of fire in a big jar and I thought the scorpion won cause he got the tarantula pretty good but then the tarantula pinned him down and twisted his stinger until it fell off and the scorpion was deaaaaaaaaaaaaad. So now we know a tarantula is more dope than a scorpion hahaha.  The other pics are just random and also one that I thought was a cool tree. And one that is to show you how good wakeboarding would be here haha.
This week was interviews they were super fast but it was nice to talk to Pres and Hermana Watts a lil bit. hmm what else is there to talk about... The members here are super cool and they are starting to trust us alot and help us out with the work so that is good.
Today for p-day we went to petencito, it’s like a little zoo and we found shut down water slides... well you’ll just have to wait and see the videos for what happened with those! hahha...
Elder Asdel wishing wakeboarding was a p-day option

Well I’m gunna end this email.  Gooood bye, love you all... have a great week!!

Elder Somers and Elder Asdel in San Jose Peten

Herrro, it's been a fast week like always and I feel like there is nothing to write about. Well ok I guess there is some. I can tell you who we are working with of first possibility is family R-m-r-z, they have been off and on with the church for a while but never baptized. They are a family of 5 and not married. Well the dad had some trouble with his papers but now we can get them, they are cleared for pickup. Tonight we are going to their house to plan the wedding and baptismal dates.
Next we have Erb-n he is a taxi driver we found that could be a possibility the only thing is we can only find him when he is working.
Then we have the family of J--n C-rl-s it's just him and his wife. We haven’t taught them much but they are one of the only family's the last Elders left us with and we have a lesson with them tomorrow. They aren't married and that could be their only problem.
Lastly we have a 14 year old boy J-s-, he has been to church about 6 or 7 times and his older brother was baptized last year. We aren't sure why J-s- isn't baptized, but we will try to figure that out this week. So there is your fill on who we are working with.
So far I love/hate the area... love because I'm pretty sure it's the coolest area in the mission, but weather wise it is far from cool, it's burning hot all day and we are walking in the sun. I hate hate hate hate hate putting sun screen on but in this area I actually put it on cause I’d die if not. Next is the hills ha ha I'd say it's like if Palm street had a bunch of babies and made a Palm street city. So if you want to see how I feel wait until the hottest day of the year and go walk up and down Palm street for about 9 hours. Oh wait that won't work, I'm forgetting the humidity haha :) I'm not complaining I just think this area is ridiculous, haha. So it's hot and hilly but has the best lake views and beaches so I love it. This weekend was youth conference in Petén and I saw a bunch of members from La Libertad and Santa Elena, which was cool.
Oh yeah I forgot this week we took a bus to this village far away and we asked the bus driver when the last bus back was and he said none, so we figured we would get a hitchhike back well we ended up walking for about 2 hours in the dark jungle. It was cool and creepy. We also saw a giant jumping Spider. That's about all for the week. Today was Pday and all we did was play volleyball and soccer. That’s all love you!!! Have a great week! I’ll send pics in a second.

February 20, 2012

Hahahahahaha
Lake Peten Itza

Yes the title explains how I feel. First off my new area is ammmmmmmmmmazing!
It’s right on the coast of lake Peten Itza far away from everything! My new area is San Jose Peten.
Next. Ok so I take a long bus to the capital yeah yeah yeah yeah all that... I get there and there is meetings and stuff whatever blah blah blah...next day....change conference....dun dun dun.
So I go in to find out where I’m going and who I am training, and the list of areas and comps. All it says is interview with President Watts... so I wait. And then I get my interview and he tells me, "well Elder Asdel I want to get all out of you that I can this change, not only do I want you training and senior comp but you will be a district leader also." So... now I can’t complain about crappy district leaders anymore because it’s me.
San Jose Peten Guatemala
So my new comp is Elder Somers from Kansas he has been super cool and willing to do whatever. Our area has crazy hills, steeper than I have ever seen and he is doing good. But yeah so far all is good with him.
My new area - We both came in new to the area so all we are doing is figuring out who the people are that they were teaching before and all that jazz.
Elder Somers, Elder Asdel, Elder Smith
Elder Gunnell, Elder Hangsing, Elder Asdel

Elder Asdel Lake Peten Itza
Hopkins is training in my old area so I’m glad he is there. Gunnell is also training in the capital and Way is training in Coban. I have some really cool pictures that I’m going to try to upload right now. I got my package when I went to the Cap and I now have both my cards. Ok time to get some pics up.

February 13, 2012

Elder Asdel

Well... Good news bad news time. Let's start with the bad.  I have another freaking change! I'm annoyed for 2 reasons. First C-n T-n family is ready to be baptized probably this Saturday or next. Secondly it takes about a change to get used to an area and then your second or third change is when it all starts getting good. Well only having one change in an area is lame, I hope it never happens to me again.  I was really starting to make good friendships and everything with the members and now I'm leaving. I told a few of them I'm coming back after the mission to visit them because I feel I got shorted out of my time here.  Third packing and moving SUCKS.
Well good news time. C-n T-n will get baptized whether I’m here or not and that's what is important. Second I will get to meet new people in another area. Third I'm training a new missionary. So that means tonight at 9pm I get on a bus to the Capital, drive for 10 hours, go to trainer meetings, and then Wednesday I will go to change conference and learn my new area.
So if you have not figured it out yet... I'm going to a new area with a new missionary. That means neither one of us will know the area. But all will be good. I know that I'm staying in Petén because I'm leaving my bags here. So yeah, I'm going to be in Petén at the hottest time of the year I hope I don't melt.
Sitting on top of the world
These last few days have been long because I hate waiting. I'm not nervous or anything I just hate waiting for things to happen. So waiting to go to the capital, waiting to see who my new comp is, and waiting to see where my new area is at is a little annoying.

Elder Asdel at Tikal

I'll have all that information for you guys next Monday. At least this change I had time to pack (kinda) and time to use Internet unlike last time. Well I'm going end this email wish me luck with my new comp and that he's not annoying or something. I'll fill you guys in next Monday, love you all have a good week.  ps I went to Tikal today,  hehee!
